Netflix's Shadow and Bone FINALLY Announces Its Cast
Shadow and Bone was picked up by Netflix in January. The Grishaverse novels have also won a award for Best Fiction for Young Adults in 2013.

The upcoming show Shadow and Bone will be based on Leigh Bardugo’s Grisha series, including Shadow and Bone, along with Six of Crows.

Netflix announced the star-studded cast on Wednesday through Twitter. The cast includes Westworld’s Ben Barnes as General Kirigan, the Darkling. While Jessie Mei Li will play Alina Starkov an orphan soldier, and Archie Renaux will play Malyen Oretsev.

Furthermore, Amita Suman has been cast as Inej, Kit Young as Jesper Fahey, and Freddy Carter (Pennyworth) as Kaz Brekker.

Other cast members include Sujaya Dasgupta, Daisy Head, Danielle Galligan, and Simon Sears.

Bardugo also shared the first photo of the cast on her Twitter. She wrote, “So delighted to finally(!!) share the cast of Season 1 of the @netflix adaptation of Shadow and Bone with you. I am so thrilled to begin this adventure with this incredible cast. #NMNF #shadowandbone”.

The series creator for Shadow and Bone will be the writer of Bird Box and Arrival, Eric Heisserer. The novelist Bardugo will be the executive producer for the show along with Divergent’s Pouya Shahbazian and Stranger Things Shawn Levy. Also, David Peterson will in charge of the shows languages.

According to Deadline, the plot of the series “focuses on a young soldier who uncovers a power that might finally unite her country. But as she struggles to hone her power, dangerous forces plot against her. Thugs, thieves, assassins and saints are at all at war, and it will take more than magic to survive.”

The first season of the show will have eight episodes in total and will cover both the novels of the Grishaverse.
