After this UN session, it’s safe to assume that Greta Thunberg is not a fan of US President Donald Trump.
On Monday, Thunberg delivered an emotional address in front of the world leaders at the UN. The speech came after Friday’s climate strike that millions participated in. Thunberg helped organize the protest.
She said in the UN,”Around the world today about 4 million people have been striking. This is the biggest climate strike ever in history and we all should be so proud of ourselves because we have done this together.”
The 16 year old from Sweden had a very powerful delivery with her words. She asked, “How dare you! You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words, and yet, I am one of the lucky ones. How dare you continue to look away and come here saying that you are doing enough when the politics and solutions needed are still nowhere in sight.”
She added, “People are suffering, people are dying, entire ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of the mass extinction and all you can talk about is money and fairytales of eternal economic growth. How dare you?”
“You are failing us. But the young people are starting to understand your betrayal. The eyes of all future generations are upon you. And if you choose to fail us, I say: We will never forgive you.”
“We will not let you get away with this. Right here, right now is where we draw the line. The world is waking up. And change is coming, whether you like it or not,” she said.
A photo of her glaring at President Trump as he passed her has also become a widely shared GIF.

Last week, Thunberg asked Capitol Hill lawmakers to “listen to the scientists. And I want you to unite behind the science. And then I want you to take real action.”
In August, Thunberg gained worldwide attention with her 2 week voyage from the UK to America. She said she would not take a flight due to the emissions from flights.
Thunberg chose to offer a copy of the 2018 Global Warming Report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change instead of an opening statement.
