Famous WWE star Glenn Jacobs, more popularly known as Kane, has been elected the mayor in Tennessee. The 51-year-old has won the elections with two-third votes.
Republican Kane has become the mayor after beating Democrat Linda Haney in Knox County.
In the wrestling world, he rose to fame as ‘Kane’ in the 1990s, as the half-brother of the famous wrestler Undertaker. He was popularly referred to as “a monstrous abomination that seems to have been extracted directly from your childhood nightmares”. As opposed to his wrestling persona, he has come to politics as someone aware of his self and his surroundings; his manifesto focuses on lower taxes, better infrastructure and improved transparency.
While some are concerned that Jacobs’ wrestling career may be a hindrance in his public office, he believes this will not be the case. He told local news station WBIR, “The thing someone like me brings to a race like this is, because of who I am, I can put Knox County in a positive light, nationally,”
“There are so many great things our county has to offer, and frankly the rest of the country needs to know about it,” he added.
Moreover, he wrote on his campaign website, “My life is blessed beyond measure because my parents and their parents before them made sure that I could have the opportunity to build the life that I enjoy. I believe that we have the same responsibility to our children and our grandchildren. That starts with us and it starts right here in Knox County.”
“Together, we can light the way to a very bright future.”
His colleagues from WWE took to Twitter to congratulate him. The official WWE account wrote, “Congratulations to [Kane] on being elected Mayor of Knox County, Tennessee!”
Kane has not yet ended his wrestling career; he last appeared as his usual half-masked self in June. He has not yet confirmed if he will let go of his career to focus on politics. He is all set to be sworn in as mayor on September 1, 2018.

*Lost his parents when he was 8-years-old, in a fire he believed he started.
*Betrayed by his undead brother countless times.
*Didn't learn to speak until he was like 30.
