A massive fire has engulfed buildings in East London. De Pass Gardens was subjected to this massive fire as the fire rushed from the ground floor to the sixth floor.

However, the building was evacuated. All nearby residences were cleared.  Twenty luxury apartments were caught by the huge blaze and ten more were damaged. Two people were reported injured due to smoke inhalation. But no one else was hurt according to The Sun.

Moreover, videos and pictures on Twitter showed substantial damage.

Mihaela Gheorghe, who lived in the building, said she was worried a fire was bound to happen. She had also raised several safety questions about the wooden balconies in the East London flats, according to the BBC.

She also said: “I was in my fourth-floor flat when the fire started. We ran out. The fire brigade came but they found it hard to find a water supply at first. We raised several issues to the builder, the maintenance companies and the council about the safety of having all these wooden balconies.”
