Teenager Loses Memory Every Two Hours; Thinks It's June 11 Every Day
An Illinois teenager loses her memory every 2 hours after a serious accident left her with a brain injury, and doctors thinks she might never make a memory.

After a serious injury on June 11, a teenager from Illinois loses her memory every two hours and thinks it’s June 11 every day when she wakes up.

On June 11, Riley Horner accidentally got kicked in the head by a student while crowd surfing at the FFA State Convention in Monmouth, Illinois. The teenager had seizures after her injury.

Now, her memory resets every couple of hours. She also wakes up thinking it’s June 11 every single day. She has to carry around all her belongings at school because she cannot remember her locker number.

Riley told WQAD, “I have a calendar on my door and I look and it’s September and I’m like ‘woah’. I know it’s hard for them [her family] as much as it’s hard for me. And people just don’t understand. It’s like a movie. I’m very confused and try to think back but I can’t. I’m not making memories and I’m just really scared.”

Riley’s uncle passed away last week and she does not know. She gets told every day but forgets in a short while. Her mother said, “We tell her every day but she has no idea about it.”

The strangest thing is that doctors cannot locate the source of her memory loss. While she was initially diagnosed with a concussion, there is nothing in her brain scans anymore.

Her mother Sarah Horner said, “They tell us there’s nothing medically wrong. You can’t see a concussion though on an MRI or a CT scan. There’s no brain bleed, there’s no tumor.”

Horner added, “We need help. We need somebody that knows a little bit more because she deserves better. [Doctors] told us that she might just be like this forever. And I am not okay with that.”

The teenager continues to lose her memory entirely every two hours.
