Brazilian striker, Neymar Jr., has caused quite a stir on Twitter after he posted an insensitive picture as a tribute to the late astrophysicists, Stephen Hawking.

The Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) star shared a topless picture of himself in a wheelchair. apparently paying respect to the renowned physicist. Neymar is currently healing from a foot injury he recently suffered from while playing against the French Team, Marseilles, last month.

Fans angrily responded to Neymar’s post, bashing him for comparing his foot injury to Hawking’s motor neurone disease.
One user called Neymar the “idiot of the week” for being insensitive towards Hawking’s passing.

Another user slammed Neymar for comparing himself with the late genius, whilst being injured on a wheelchair.

Even the senior writer of Sports Illustrated was not impressed by Neymar’s insensitive post; he stated that the footballer usually ‘gets social media’, but ‘this is not one of those times.’

Another offended user tweeted how Neymar’s tweet is more insensitive than French striker, Griezmann, who recently offended the Internet after dressing up as a ‘black basketball player’.

Apart from this, many are paying heartwarming tributes to the late physicist. Several things about his life have also been highlighted after his passing, like the fact that he warned the world about Donald Trump!

After Donald Trump withdrew from the Paris Climate Accord in June 2016, the late physicist shared a few remarks of his own. He stated that the US President’s decision can be fatal for our beautiful planet, as climate change is an important issue.

Stephen Hawking died at the age of 76 on Wednesday morning, after a long struggle with a motor neurone disease. His massive contribution to the world of physics will remain unforgotten.

Upon his passing, his family posted the following statement.
“We are deeply saddened that our beloved father passed away today.
