TV presenter Ant McPartlin has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving, as he crashed his ‘Mini sports car‘ into a young girl in London.
The 42-year-old TV star, on Sunday afternoon, was said to have crashed his Mini into two other cars while driving in Richmond, West London.
Ant McPartlin lost control of his Mini, black in color and with a red stripe, and hit a green Mini on a roundabout before hitting a maroon BMW.
His car, then, went on to the opposite side of the road.
The Police, ambulance service and London fire brigade arrived at the crash site and immediately started investigating and analyzing.
The authorities there tested him on the breathalyzer, which is a device for testing blood alcohol content from breath. He was found to have failed that test.
The Police said that a child, of age 3, from one of the other cars, was rushed to the nearby hospital to be checked in ‘as a precaution’.
It has been reported that the I’m A Celebrity host was travelling in his Mini with his mother, Christine Woodhall, and Labrador Hurley.
One of the witnesses told The Sun, “Ant looked like his world had just ended.”
A 23-year-old Amy Cassie told the Mirror,“Ant seemed furious after crashing the car and was shouting at his mum who was also in the car. She was trying to get him to calm down.”
She added, “The police took him to the back of the police car to remove him from the situation. Ant and his mum didn’t seem to have any injuries, but the mum in the green car had split her lip and the side of her face was very red.”
A spokesman for the Scotland Yard also said, “Police in Richmond were called to Lower Richmond Road, SW14 at 15:59hrs on Sunday, 18 March following reports of a road traffic collision involving three vehicles.”
Ant McPartlin was arrested and was taken for questioning to a Police Station in South London.
Later on Monday morning, the Police released Ant McPartlin under investigation.
Ant’s mother later went to her son’s rented home in Chiswick, West London; while his Labrador has been dropped off with Lisa Armstrong, Ant’s wife with whom he is awaiting a divorce.
Just last year, Ant McPartlin went into rehab for an addiction to drinking and of painkillers when he got hooked on ‘Tramadol’, which he used to take for his knee surgery pains.
Ant McPartlin hosts many TV Shows including Britain’s Got Talent, and Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.
