Haley Smith, 26, has passed away after a motorcycle crash that occurred in Maine: the former American Idol contestant’s devastated family think a deer caused the crash.
According to TMZ, the accident occurred in Millinocket, Maine, on a small country road. The former Idol contestant was on a motorbike on a country road. She had to make a sharp turn on a road from the residential to the highway part of town. She failed to make the turn and crashed instead.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Smith was on American Idol in 2012 for its 11th season, and auditioned in Colorado.
She was auditioned by Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez. At the time, she was 18 years old. She sand Tell me Something Good by Chaka Khan to the judges. She told the judges she loved sixties and seventies music.
Right after she finished singing, Steven Tyler told her, “I love your voice so much. You’re right out of my era and I’m honored to be here listening to your voice.”

Smith’s dad Mike Smith told TMZ that she was a good rider. He does not believe she could have lost control of the bike. He said he thinks deer might have caused the crash instead. Her devastated family also revealed that they had been planning her 27th birthday for November.
