The Irishman came second with 10 nominations and Netflix’s Marriage Story earned 6.

However, people were outraged because many talented women and people of color were snubbed by The Academy. The host of The Daily Show, Trevor Noah in a segment complained about Greta Gerwig not being nominated for Best Director for Little Women.

Noah said, “It’s really strange it was nominated for six awards including Best Picture, Best Screenplay, two acting nominations but then somehow Greta Gerwig wasn’t nominated for Best Director. How the hell did that happen? Two people were like, ‘Yeah, what an amazing movie.’ ‘Yeah, did you know the movie directed itself?'”

Others were upset about Jennifer Lopez not being nominated for her role in Hustlers and Lupita Nyongo for her amazing character in Us. The only black woman nominated at the 2020 Oscars includes Cynthia Erivo, who played Harriet Tubman in Harriet.
