FRIENDS reunion has been confirmed by the cast and the unscripted special will air on HBO Max.
Original cast members Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer will all return to the air in the reunion special.
All the FRIENDS confirmed the news and shared the same cast photo on Instagram with the caption, “It’s happening.” While Matt LeBlanc jokingly shared a M*A*S*H cast photo instead.
The show aired its last episode in 2004 on NBC after 10 years. It left Netflix at the end of 2019. However, all 10 seasons will be available on HBO Max soon.
Kevin Reilly, chief content officer at HBO Max said in a statement, “Guess you could call this the one where they all got back together — we are reuniting with David, Jennifer, Courteney, Matt, Lisa, and Matthew for an HBO Max special that will be programmed alongside the entire ‘Friends’ library.”
Further adding, “I became aware of ‘Friends’ when it was in the very early stages of development and then had the opportunity to work on the series many years later and have delighted in seeing it catch on with viewers generation after generation. It taps into an era when friends – and audiences – gathered together in real time and we think this reunion special will capture that spirit, uniting original and new fans.”
Many fellow celebrities were excited about the upcoming reunion. Queer Eye star Antoni Porowski commented, “NOTHING ELSE MATTERS.” His co-star Tan France wrote, “NEVER HAS “I CAN’T EVEN” BEEN MORE RELEVANT.”
While Elizabeth Banks simply wrote, “Whoa” and Michelle Pfeiffer just exclaimed, “WHAT?!!”
Actor David Spade jokingly wrote, “I heard the new name is F**k Buddies. Is this true?” While singer and FRIENDS fan Charlie Puth commented, “CRYING.”
Big Little Lies star Reese Witherspoon said, “WHAT???!!! This is the greatest news Ever!!”
The reunion will air on the same date as the launch of HBO Max.
