Exactly one month after his tragic death, the DJ was honored at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards. Halsey and The Chainsmokers (Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart) paid tribute to the singer before presenting the nominees for this year’s Top Hot 100 songs. The singers acknowledged his utmost love and passion for music and his contribution to EDM (Electronic Dance Music).

Taggart said, “His passing was a great loss for the music world, and for us. He was an artist who inspired so many in so many ways, and simply put, he meant so much to us and everyone in the EDM community.”

Meanwhile, Halsey advised everyone struggling with mental illness to speak to their loved ones, saying, “Everyone who worked with him would agree that he was such a joy, and it makes this tragedy all the more painful, and it’s a reminder to all of us to be there and to support and love all of our friends and family members who may be struggling with mental health issues.”

The Billboard Awards Twitter account also posted about Avicii.

Avicii was nominated for the best Dance/Electronic album of the year at the Billboard Music Awards 2018. On Twitter, his last tweet thanked the Billboard for the nomination.

Tim Bergling, 28, popularly known as DJ Avicii, committed suicide on April 20 in Oman. The death of the Swedish DJ – who made his name in the industry with some of the finest club anthems like Wake Me Up, Hey Brother and Levels – shocked the entire world.

Shortly after Avicii’s passing, his family released a statement that explained the DJ’s cause of death. The statement read, “Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions. An over-achieving perfectionist who travelled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress. When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most, music.”

The cause of his death is not yet confirmed. However, it was very certain that the musician took his own life in order ‘to find peace’.

The statement continued, “He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace. Tim was not made for the business machine he found himself in; he was a sensitive guy who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight.”

Tim, you will forever be loved and sadly missed. The person you were and your music will keep your memory alive. We love you, Your family.”

DJ Avicii will certainly be remembered for the anthems he left for the music industry.
