Tom Hanks’ final scenes as Woody in Toy Story 4 were extremely emotional for the actor. Hanks has been playing Woody since Toy Story first began in 1995.
During a press conference in Florida, Tom Hanks stated that he delivered his last few lines of Toy Story 4 by facing the wall. He had to look away from everyone else in order to be able to say the lines. He said ” I didn’t want to have any self-consciousness for what I knew was going to be the… last few hours I was spending with the movie.”
He said, “When it came to pass, I felt as though I was on the other side of the river waving to everybody I had left back in the old country. It was pretty profound.” He revealed that the situation was even more emotional by chance. He had coincidentally recorded final scenes for the fourth one in the same booth as the original Toy Story.
He further reminisced “You drive into the lot, through the same gate, you park in the same spot they had for you, then you go through the same doors. Get in your car and you drive back through. And you think, have recorded the last moment of the current Toy Story.”
According to Irish Examiner, Hanks, feared he had revealed too much about the film’s ending, then pulled papers from his pocket, explaining they were “talking points” given to the actors by Disney with advice on how to answer questions about the finale.”
The new trailer for Toy Story 4 was released last month. It gave a sneak-peek of Woody and Buzz risking their lives to save a new toy named Forky.
Toy Story 4 will be releasing June 19th, 2019.
