According to one of the members of the audience who later reported the incident to Entertainment Tonight, the concert had to be canceled because Bono could no longer perform.

Prior to the abrupt cancellation of the event, the band performed their hit song, Red Flag Day, and then attempted to play another of their songs called, Beautiful Day. However, midst performance the band had to head backstage for a 15-minute break. Unfortunately, they were not prepared to come back on stage.

A management representative for U2 came on stage to break the news to the fans that had gathered together to see U2 perform, and told them that the concert had ended.

Videos that circulated on social media post the concert showed Bono addressing his fans in the audience, and stated that he could not finish the concert as planned.

He said, “I was ready to sing for you. Something’s happened, and I think we cannot go on. It’s not right for you…I’m sure this is not a big, big problem, but I’m gonna have to do something.”

While Bono acknowledged the unfortunate incident, he did not state whether this would be compensated for. The band has not yet revealed any information regarding a rescheduling of the concert, or an attempt to refund the money to those who bought tickets for the event.

“We’re so sorry for tonight’s cancellation. Bono was in great form and great voice prior to the show and we were all looking forward to the second night in Berlin, but after a few songs, he suffered a complete loss of voice.

We don’t know what has happened and we’re taking medical advice.
As always, we appreciate our audience’s understanding and all our fans’ support in Berlin and those who travelled from afar. We will update you very soon.”
