Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2019 has been canceled according to sources privy to insider information. Angels are already weighing in on the news.
28-year-old Victoria’s Secret angel Shanina Shaik revealed to The Daily Telegraph on Tuesday that the glamorous fashion show will not be happening this year.
She said, “Unfortunately, the Victoria’s Secret Show won’t be happening this year,” adding, “It’s something I’m not used to because every year around this time I’m training like an Angel.”
The Angel revealed, “I’m sure in the future something will happen, which I’m pretty sure about. I’m sure they’re trying to work on branding and new ways to do the show because it’s the best show in the world”.
Shanina Shaik walked the runway for VS in 2011 for the first time. Furthermore, she also appeared on the show in 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2018.
Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Behati Prinsloo, Adriana Lima, and Gigi Hadid walked the runway at last year’s Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. There were also performances from Shawn Mendes, The Chainsmokers, and Rita Ora.
However, the 2018 show had the lowest ratings out of all previous shows.
The CEO of L Brands, Les Wexler sent out a memo to all the employees of Victoria’s Secret in May according to CNBC.
The memo read, “Fashion is a business of change. We must evolve and change to grow. With that in mind, we have decided to re-think the traditional Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.”
“In 2019 and beyond, we’re focusing on developing exciting and dynamic content and a kind of event — delivered to our customers on platforms that she’s glued to. And in ways that will push the boundaries in the global digital age,” it added.
Victoria’s Secret has not yet officially commented on the news.
