Someone threw a lemon at Ariana Grande during her Coachella set on Sunday night. The lemon was a reference to Beyonce’s historic Coachella performance.
During Grande’s Coachella performance on Sunday, Grande was hit in the chest by a lemon that came from someone in the crowd. Wearing her signature thigh high boots, bra top and skirt, Grande peered down at the lemon and continued her performance of Thank U, Next without drawing attention to it.

Although Grande personally did not address the incident, her fans spoke out against how disrespectful the interruption was, especially given that she suffers from extreme PTSD after the bombing at her Manchester concert.
The lemon was in all likelihood a reference to the speculation by Newsweek that Grande was paid $8 million for her Coachella set while Beyonce was paid $4 million last year for her historic Homecoming performance. The Blast has said both performers were in fact paid $4 million for their sets.

Grande seems to currently be on a high from her Coachella performance which included Nicki Minaj, Justin Bieber and NSYNC. About NSYNC, Grande wrote, “it can go either way when you meet your childhood heroes and no one has ever been kinder or cooler or sillier or more lovely to be around. also how the f**k do y’all still sound and dance exactly like you did when my mom and i followed you around on tour when i was 5? thank you thank you thank you for your time and energy and i love you so much forever.”
While announcing Bieber’s performance, Grande said, “Coachella, I wasn’t gonna bring any guests out tonight, but my friend Justin Bieber came all the way out to spend some time with y’all. And we thought it might be fun to do something for you guys. This was not planned at all. Thank you for being here Justin, we love you so much.” It was Bieber’s first time performing on stage in two years, and he promised fans there would be “an album soon.”
Grande is currently in the middle of the Sweetener World Tour.
