Heather Menzies-Urich, a Canadian-American actress, died at the age of 68 on Christmas Eve!
The star was renowned for her spectacular role in ‘The Sound of Music‘. She played as Louisa Von Trapp in the 1965 classic.
Heather was born on 3rd December 1949. She began her career with ‘My Three Sons’, only at 13. ‘My Three Sons‘ was an American sitcom, which ran on the television screens from 1960 to 1965.
She then made her first ever appearance in ‘The Sound of Music‘ as a movie artist and created golden memories for millions of audience worldwide. The movie turned out to be a huge success, bagging six Oscars altogether.
She had a prominence in other mega projects too, including the TV series called ‘Logan’s Run’.
Later in 1970’s Heather Menzies-Urich married the actor, Robert Urich.
Robert Urich died on April 16, 2001. He died of synovial sarcoma, which is also a form of cancer that destroys the soft tissues.
The couple has three children together, Ryan, Allison, and Emily.
Ryan Urich, Heather’s son, explained how his mother passed away on Christmas. He told Variety:
“She was an actress, a ballerina and loved living her life to the fullest. She was not in any paint but, nearly four weeks after her diagnosis of terminal brain cancer, she had enough and took her last breath on this earth at 7:22 pm.”
Heather was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, which is an acute form of brain cancer. The symptoms range from headaches and nausea to unconsciousness and extreme seizures.
The ‘Sound of Music‘ page on Twitter posted a status, “We Mourn the Loss of Heather Menzies-Urich.”
Thousands of fans commented below and thanked the star for the endless memories.
One fan Tweeted, “My heart will always be filled with the Sound of Music thanks to Heather Menzies-Urich and everyone involved with @SoundofMusic.”
While another tweeted, “Sending deepest condolences to all of her loved ones, fans, and Sound of Music family. May she rest in peace.”
One person praised the movie while saying, “I have like 12 copies of this awesome film… I watch it several times a year… My favorite of all time.”
One expressed her sorrow and said:
“So sad. I watched The Sound of Music last night on Tv </3 RIP Heather Menzies-Urich.”
