Former Malaysian King and Russian wife split just a few months after son’s birth even though he gave up the throne to marry her.
Last November, Sultan Muhammad V of Kelatan gave up the Malaysian throne to marry Miss Moscow Rihana Oksana Voevodina.
The abdication came after claims about Voevodina’s past started surfacing. She was a reality TV show star under a fake name in Russia. Revealing pictures from her time on TV were leaked after she was seen to be close to the former Malaysian king.
Oksana is the daughter of a Russian orthopedic surgeon who won Miss Moscow three years ago. An advertisement for the reality TV show she did said the contestants lived at a luxury Sol de Occidente villa in Mexico where they “lived there making love to each other from time to time and emotionally discussing their relations”.
Just 6 months after their marriage, the couple have split up.
The Strait Times reported that the divorce was registered on July 1 with the Kelantan crest. According to the documents, the divorce was done by the former King saying ‘talaq’ three times, which in Islam is an irreversible form of divorce.
The documents showed the divorce registering in Singapore.
Tengku Ismail Leon Petra
On 21 May, Oksana gave birth to a son. This is the first child for the former Malaysian king and Russian wife. She posted about the happy news on Instagram, writing, “21 May 2019 – the day when my life was divided into ‘before’ and ‘after’. Everything that I was told about the changes occurring with a woman after the birth of a baby is true.”
She continued, “This love is special. These feelings are completely new. I am grateful to Allah and my husband for our son. Now there are three of us.” The couple named their child Tengku Ismail Leon Petra Bin Tengku Muhammad V Faris Petra.
Oksana also uploaded images with caption talking about her pregnancy. She wrote, “It was the most important and, at the same time, the most difficult period in my life. The last three months of pregnancy I spent in hospitals, staying in bed with (drips in) both hands. I had too many difficulties with pregnancy.”
She added, “The support of my closest people and my love for my son and Faith in the best helped me in that not simple time.”
“It was a wonderful and beautiful wedding…”
Oksana also talked about her wedding on her social media. According to her statements, the former Malaysian king and Russian wife had a secret Muslim wedding ceremony five months before her public wedding. The latter ceremony happened in Moscow. Oksana wore a dress she had been “dreaming about since childhood”.
She wrote, “I want to say thank you to the people who shared this happy moment with us and were together with us that evening! It was wonderful and beautiful wedding…”
The couple have not yet commented on the news.
