Rapper Nipsey Hussle has passed away at the age only 33-years-old after being shot outside his house. The music industry is paying tributes to his talent.
TMZ reported that the rapper was shot down on Sunday in the Hyde Park area of LA where he lived and operated his clothing company called the Marathon Store. Eyewitnesses heard multiple shots and police later cordoned off the area.
Videos from the scene showed Nipsey receiving CPR on the scene after which he was taken to a hospital along with 3 other people that were shot. It was initially reported that one person from the 3 had passed away and later confirmed to be the rapper.
Police are now looking for a black male in his 20s. Eyewitnesses said the man approached the rapper on foot and shot him multiple times, after which he ran away in a waiting vehicle being driven by a female.
Nipsey released a number of mixtapes over the course of his 10-year long career but dropped his first album last year called Victory Lap. The album was nominated for Best Rap Album last month but ended up losing to Cardi B.
A number of rappers in the community have come forward to pay tribute to Nipsey. John Legend wrote, “RIP Nipsey. I just spent Thursday with him filming a video for a beautiful new song we created with Khaled. We filmed in Inglewood, close to where he grew up. He was so gifted, so proud of his home, so invested in his community. Utterly stunned that he’s gone so soon.”
