37 year old Roberts was found dead on August 5. He was thought to have taken his own life. He was later cremated in Newcastle-under-Lyme. He was the Chief Executive of a charity with which Prince Harry traveled to the South Pole in 2013.

A source told Mirror that the two “hit it off from the moment they met.” Roberts trained him for the South Pole trek and the two went with 12 other people who had all been injured in battle.

The trek included teams from the UK, the US and the Commonwealth. It was a walk of 208 miles in negative 50 degrees. The teams included those who had been injured in war and had their legs amputated.

Prince Harry is now “very upset” and the death came “as a real shock” to the Duke. Roberts left behind his wife and 2 year old daughter. The Duke sent the two of them flowers to express his sympathies. However, a royal spokesperson declined to comment on the situation.

Walking With The Wounded founder Ed Parker admired Jules’ personality. He said he was a “diamond. I know that he admired hugely Harry’s commitment to both mental health and the veteran community. There was a lot of respect both ways.” The charity’s will now dedicate next year’s trek across the Sahara to Jules.
