Joe Jackson, the man who ruled the Jackson family with an iron fist, is reportedly ‘in the final stages of terminal cancer’. The father of the Jackson 5 has been the victim of several health issues in the past few years, including multiple heart attacks and dementia.
The patriarch of the most famous family in music history has been known for physical and mental abuse on his children, who all launched careers in the music Industry. He was also the manager of The Jackson 5, which featured Michael, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Marlon.
Due to the unfair treatment of his children, the father of 11 always had controversial relations with his off-springs. Family insiders said Jackson never even allowed his kids to call him Dad; they were ordered to simply call him Joseph.
“He’s still a mystery man to me and he may always be one,” said Michael Jackson about his father in his 1988 autobiography.
Jackson was hospitalized last summer as well, after a car accident on the Las Vegas Strip. He also suffered a stroke in 2015 while visiting Brazil.
After his stroke, Jackson told reporters, “When I suffered four strokes last year and was in the hospital recovering, only two people in my family traveled all the way to see me,” he wrote. “My granddaughter Brandi [Jackie Jackson’s daughter] and my baby girl, Janet.”
The other family members did not visit their father when his health started to deteriorate. Joe expressed how proud he is of his daughter after she visited him, saying, “She sat right next to me as I lay in bed, and she spent time with me. We were talking a lot together and it meant a lot to me.”
On the contrary, the fourth child of Joe Jackson, Jermaine, revealed to Daily Mail that a few of the members of the Jackson Family were banned from visiting Joe in the hospital, and didn’t know what was going on for a long time.
“No one knew what was going on — we shouldn’t have to beg, plead, and argue to see our own father, especially at a time like this,” Jermaine said. “We have been hurting. We were not being told where he was and couldn’t get the full picture. Even from the doctor. My mother was worried sick.”
He also reported that his father’s condition is critical and it appears that he is now on his death bed. “He’s very, very frail, he doesn’t have long. The family needs to be by his bedside — that’s our only intention in his final days.”
A friend of the Jackson patriarch said, “There’d be no Jackson Five, no Michael, no Janet without him. He shouldn’t have to call any of them. They should have enough respect and feel an obligation to come out and see how he’s doing.”
According to TMZ, Joe Jackson has been fighting for ‘some time’ and is now in the final stages of cancer. A spokesperson for the Jackson family could not be reached at press time for any further comment on Joe Jackson’s current condition.
