Matthew McConaughey joins the University of Texas as a PROFESSOR. The Oscar-winning actor will begin teaching in Fall 2019.
After graduating from the University of Texas in 1993, McConaughey will now serve as the “professor of practice at the Moody College of Communication.”
The Academy Award-winning actor will be a part of the Department of Radio-Television-Film at UT. Moreover, McConaughey will teach ‘Advanced Producing: Script to Screen’. He has also served as a guest lecturer at the university back in 2016.
According to UT News, McConaughey said, “It’s the class I wish I would have had when I was in film school. Working in the classroom with these students gives me a chance to prepare them.”
Further saying, “Making movies, turning words on paper into film, is both a science and art – no matter the time or generation. The elements of truth and genuine joy for the process are timeless. That will always be our classroom focus.”
Jay Berngardt, the Dean of the College stated that he is “proud to welcome Professor McConaughey to officially join our world-class faculty.” Also saying, “Matthew cares deeply for our school and our students, and we are thrilled that he shares his time and talent to help prepare the next generation of media leaders and innovators.”
Furthermore, the Interstellar actor’s fans are extremely excited about the news. Many of them now wish they could return to school for a chance to meet the actor.
One wrote, “Me moving transferring to the University of Texas to be in Matthew McConaughey’s film class.”
Another tweeted, “So Matthew McConaughey is teaching at UT Austin as a film professor & I’m suddenly switching majors lol.”
