World Pride Day was celebrated on Sunday. The 20-year-old rapper revealed his sexual orientation. He posted a video of his song C7osure and urged followers to listen again to its lyrics.

Miley Cyrus is also supporting Lil Nas after he came out as gay. She wrote in a tweet with heart and rainbow emojis, “SO proud of my baby brother @lilnasx. In your corner forever my friend!”

The rapper has collaborated with Miley’s father Billy Ray Cyrus on his number 1 smash hit Old Town Road.

She also posted a photo of her and Lil Nas X as the two smiled backstage at the Glastonbury Festival. They performed together at the festival on Sunday.

He wrote alongside the video, “Some of y’all already know, some of y’all don’t care, some of y’all not going to f*** with me no more. But before this month ends I want y’all to listen closely to ‘c7osure.”

Lil Nas made it obvious

The rapper later shared a video of his EP’s album artwork. The video features Lil Nas X as a cowboy, riding a horse and looking out at the sky bright with rainbow lights. The video also zooms in on a rainbow on a building.

Lil Nas X thought he had made it obvious.

He said, “Deada– thought I made it obvious. Just cuz I’m gay don’t mean I’m not straight.”

In a few lyrics in the song, C7osure, Lil Nas X expresses his desire to live a more authentic life.

He sings, “Ain’t no more actin’, man that forecast say I should just let me grow. No more red light for me baby, only green, I gotta go. Pack my past up in the back, oh, let my future take ahold. This is what I gotta do, can’t be regrettin’ when I’m old. True say, I want and I need to let go, use my time to be free.”

Breaking records

Lil Nas X’s song “Old Town Road” is currently in its 13th week atop Billboard’s Hot 100 singles chart. It has broken records previously set by Drake and two new Taylor Swift singles. His EP 7 debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 this week.

The rapper used the internet and made the Old Town Road into a cultural phenomenon. The song became a soundtrack to a dance challenge on Tik Tok. It quickly turned into a viral meme.

He recently signed to Columbia Records. His EP, 7, followed his self-released project NASARATI from 2018. It features Cardi B, Ryan Tedder, and, the Billy Ray remix of Old Town Road.

Welcoming the gay community

Many fans cheered Nas and supported him online. Some fans promised to defend him at all costs if he met with offense regarding his sexuality.
