Justin Bieber has revealed that Hailey Baldwin Bieber has been his support system during his mental health struggles, for which he is in therapy.
A source told E! that Bieber has been “battling depression and he’s been having a difficult time. He really wants to get better. He has been seeking all the help he can get”. With these struggles, he is seeking help from “the people that love him most”. His wife Hailey is at the top of this list.
The source added that Bieber has accepted his mental health issues, saying, “He is in outpatient therapy and getting help every day. This is his focus right now.”
Bieber himself revealed during his interview with Vogue that he recognizes the personal issues that have manifested themselves in other problems and resentments that he carries in his life. He shared that he got hit with depression that came from his mother’s side during the Purpose tour. This confused him so much he canceled some of it. He explained, “I haven’t talked about this, and I’m still processing so much stuff that I haven’t talked about. I was lonely. I needed some time.”
During the interview, he shared that he went on a therapy retreat where he used the Hoffman Process of beating a pillow to get his anger out. He said, “I beat the fact that my mom was depressed a lot of my life and my dad has anger issues. Stuff that they passed on that I’m kind of mad they gave me.”
He added that his mental health issues are further exacerbated by the feeling that “people are using me or aren’t really there for me, and that writers are looking to get something out of me and then use it against me.”
Speaking about his marriage, Bieber said, “I’m the emotionally unstable one. I struggle with finding peace. I just feel like I care so much and I want things to be so good and I want people to like me. Hailey’s very logical and structured, which I need.”
The couple got married on September 13, 2018.
