Jessie J and Jenna Dewan both spoke out against the intense comparisons being made of them, saying they did not care to bring other women down at all.
Ever since Channing Tatum broke up with Jenna Dewan and got together with British singer Jessie J, fans have been making comparisons between the two women, saying they look strikingly similar.
One fan wrote, “Channing Tatum is dating singer Jessie J but what makes it kind of weird is that she’s Jenna Dewan’s doppelganger.”
Another one said, “Channing Tatum went from being married to Jenna Dewan to dating Jessie J and man does that boy have a TYPE.”
“Just me or is Jessie J just a less attractive version of Jenna Dewan?” another one asked.
“Jessie J looks like Jenna Dewan lool,” another one commented.
(Image source: Twitter/k.v.x) Jenna spoke out against the comparisons a couple of days ago, in the comments beneath one of her pictures. A fan commented on a picture of her from the Baby2Baby Gala, writing, “It’s an absolute insult to Jenna’s beauty – in and out! He’ll never find another Jenna; [she’s] a once in a lifetime kind of woman.”
Dewan, who herself is in a new relationship, commented underneath writing, “Positive vibes only.”
Jessie then took the matter further by writing a detailed expose on how the comparisons were making her feel. She said that she rarely commented or saw stories about herself online, but that she had to comment on it because of the complete lack of positivity.
She asked fans several important questions like who felt good from this story and why women needed to be compared, given that it brought no positive lessons to anyone.
She said that she is “disappointed and embarrassed that my name is even involved” and that it is not what her values are in life. She said while she she would usually ignore such a story, she did not want to ignore this one because of the negative impact it would have on little girls. She recounted her past to add weight to the issue.
She said that as a woman that supports all women, she wanted the media to realize that they have a bigger responsibility than just reporting facts, and implored them to take into account the impact this would have on younger women.
She implored, “Be sensitive with your words. Be kind with your words. You have no idea what they can do to someone. Alone ladies, we are strong. But TOGETHER? US WOMEN can truly CHANGE THE WORLD.”
The comments underneath the post were turned off but Tatum liked the post.
Jenna agreed with Jessie in a Twitter post, saying “Women for women all the way.”
Channing Tatum has not spoken up on the issue as of yet.
