Hilary Duff just is doing a Lizzie McGuire reboot that will show Lizzie as a 30-year-old woman living in NYC, and fans can NOT wait.
Actress Hilary Duff announced the new ‘Lizzie McGuire’ movie on her social media. Posting a video on Instagram, she wrote “SURPRISE!!! I’ve been trying to contain this excitement for a loooong time while this has been in the works!”
Further writing, “I am beyond excited to be home again, back with my girl ♥️…and into her 30’s #bringbackbutterflyclips #lizziemcguire #thisiswhatdreamsaremadeof #lizzieforpresident #DisneyPlus #D23Expo Also, If you needed yet another reason to get Disney+ … the #lizziemcguiremovie will be living there!”
According to Deadline, Duff will reprise her role as Lizzie. The reimagined version will show the character as a 30-year-old woman trying to go through life in New York City. The series will also include the animated version of little Lizzie who offers witty remarks and funny commentary on what her character is thinking.
Hilary Duff also posted multiple posts on Instagram stories. Furthermore, she was present during the announcement at Disney’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, California on Friday.
Duff told E! News that it was extremely hard to keep the news to herself. Also saying, “I’m a fan and we’re such a part of each other… It makes a lot of sense and feels really right.”
Explaining the upcoming sequel, she said, “She was there for everyone in their pre-teens. She was their best friend, and I would love to try to embody that for her in her 30s and going through those challenges.”
The original creator of ‘Lizzie McGuire’ Terri Minsky is also part of the reboot.
Hilary Duff currently stars in the TV series Younger.
