The director of the movie is Rob Marshall. In an interview with Variety, sources reported that Marshall said, “After an extensive search it was abundantly clear that Halle posses that rare combination of spirit, heart, youth, innocence and substance. Plus a glorious singing voice. All intrinsic qualities necessary to play this iconic role.”
However, the shooting for the movie is said to start in 2020. Rob Marshall will also produce the film along with John DeLuca, Marc Platt, and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
