Elsa Pataky, Chris Hemsworth’s wife, got a tattoo when she was just 15 years old. The tattoo is on her right bicep; it features two black lines intertwined to form diamonds and is inspired by Norse god, Thor. Elsa didn’t think much of her tattoo until she found out that her husband, Chris Hemsworth, had signed up to play the Marvel character on the big screen!
It’s a crazy coincidence! Elsa’s tattoo meant a lot to her when she got it inked. She gave a candid interview to Vogue Australia for their June 2018 issue and discussed her love for Thor and what the mythical character represents. She fell in love with him when she read the legend that surrounded him and so decided to get a tiny but classy tattoo dedicated to him.
15-year-old Elsa would never have guessed that she’d one day marry Hollywood’s Thor! Chris’ performance as the strong, righteous defender of justice definitely sets his fans’ hearts racing every time. In fact, his latest box office release has broken new records. The Avengers: Infinity War grossed over $250million on its opening weekend!
Thor wasn’t afraid to pull any punches during the movie and stayed true to the legend surrounding his character. His wife, Elsa, said she’s shocked at how things can fall into place so beautifully. There she was, an impressionable teenager, and now she’s a gorgeous 34-year-old woman married to 27-year-old Chris, aka Thor himself!
The pair met in early 2010, a year after Elsa’s relationship with actor Adrien Brody died out. She dated Adrien for a number of years but the couple couldn’t make it work. Elsa made her peace with it and involved herself with other projects to stay busy. It was then that she met Chris through mutual friends at an event – and it was actually love in first sight!
Never one to wait around, Chris proposed to her pretty early and they got married around Christmas in 2010. They have generally had a fairytale relationship and are proud parents to three children. There’s daughter, India Rose, and twin boys, Sasha and Tristan.
Despite their ideal family, Chris spoke to GQ last year and admitted that the couple haven’t had the easiest time of it. He said that his super busy filming schedule and career had been putting strain on their marriage. He was determined to fix it but he didn’t know how he could, given that he had so much to work on.
“In terms of work, she’s certainly given up more than I have. She’d like me to step back and be at home with the kids more, and of course, I want that too. I feel like I’m at this crucial point in my career – I’ve just got to set up for longevity or I’ll slip off,” he said.
We don’t think anyone is going to forget about him in a hurry after his newest film. He was always meant to play Thor, just as him and Elsa were meant to get married. The tattoo proves it!
