Sony Pictures statement for Charlie’s Angels

Sony Pictures released the first trailer for the movie recently. The official synopsis from the company reads, “Charlie’s Angels have always provided security and investigation skills to private clients, and now the Townsend Agency has expanded internationally with multiple teams of Angels guided by multiple Bosley’s [David Doyle’s John Bosley was the handler for the Angels on the original series that ran from 1976 to 1981] taking on the toughest jobs across the world. When a young systems engineer blows the whistle on a dangerous technology, these Angels are called into action, putting their lives on the line to protect us all.”

Elizabeth Banks also told PEOPLE, “We felt like we had a big responsibility with this trailer because it’s going to be on Spider-man: Far from Home, which is a big movie, which means a lot of eyeballs are going to be on the trailer. We felt like we wanted to invite that audience into our movie.”

She further explained, “The last movie came out almost 18 years ago, so there are many, many, especially young people who just don’t really know those movies. So we’re kind of reintroducing Charlie’s Angels to new fans but also reminding people who love Charlie’s Angels what they loved about it and bringing them back into the theater. So it’s got a lot of action, it’s got glamour, it’s got fun, it feels big and global which was a big goal of doing the film this time around for me. And I just think, hopefully, it tells everybody they’re going to have a lot of fun watching it.”

Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, and Lana Del Ray’s songs are also teased in the trailer.

Banks told PEOPLE, “I’m thrilled that three of my favorite artists ended up doing a song for the film. It’s really exciting. I can’t wait for people to hear it when the single drops.”

Sony Pictures will release the movie on November 15th.
