Carrie Underwood has decided to appear in public after a series of successful surgeries on the cuts and scars on her face. The injuries resulted from an accident in her home at the end of 2017, and she has since maintained a low public profile.
The singer, who faced physical and emotional turmoil after a terrible fall in her house, and was unable to even look in the mirror after the terrible accident, has gained all her confidence back post-surgery. The 35-year-old hoped with all her heart that fans and supporters would understand why she not only took a break from singing but also from appearing in public at all.
The Something In The Water singer only wished to show herself once she gained the confidence to, and when fans would not notice the difference in her face. Even though Carrie had serious doubts about her appearance, her fans stood beside her throughout the terrible time. They reassured and encouraged her, telling her her face is just as stunning as it always was.
After the incident was publicized in November 2017, Carrie issued a statement informing her fans that she does not ‘look quite the same’. She revealed she had 40 to 50 stitches due to the large number of cuts on her face.
In the aftermath of the brutal fall, the Remind Me singer said, “I am determined to make 2018 amazing and I want to share things with you along the way.”
“And when I am ready to get in front of a camera, I want you all to understand why I might look a bit different, she added.
Around February, Carrie finally opened up to the public and shared a photo which showed the left side of her face. Less than a week ago, the country singer shared promotional video of Calia, Carrie’s athleisure line. The video shows she does not feel the need to hide herself from the public anymore.
In the video, Carrie has all her hair tied back in a headband, revealing her whole face – clean and clear, void of any scars, cuts or bruises.
After five months of keeping a low profile, the star gave her first public appearance at the Academy of Country Music Awards 2018. The 13-time ACM Award winner stunned the audience with her silver cocktail dress, sparkling tears glued under her eyes and her voluminous blonde hair let down.
On the stage, she executed a phenomenal performance of her new song, Cry Pretty, which received a heartwarming standing ovation.
