Cara Delevingne talks ‘Carnival Row’ character and defending Taylor Swift. Delevingne supported Swift amidst Scooter Braun drama.
Delevingne will be starring in the new Amazon web series ‘Carnival Row’ alongside Orlando Bloom. The show is a Victorian fantasy where a human detective and a faerie fall in love. Their world becomes dangerous when a monster starts committing a series of murders.
During San Diego Comic-Con, Cara Delevingne talked about her character in the show. She told Variety, “I’m a pansexual faerie.”
She further said that there were other queer character’s in the show as well. Stating, “All faeries generally are. They don’t see gender. It’s all about who they are and their hearts. A lot of the things that weren’t written in the script, we made them so. Obviously, I didn’t say, ‘I want to be a pansexual faerie,’ but it made sense that all faeries kind of just love who they love.”
The show hints at the current political issues happening in the United States. Adding further, “It’s really talking about immigration and refugees and classism and sexism, racism and elitism. That just makes me shiver.”
The model also talked about the Taylor Swift and Scooter Braun Drama. Swift claimed that her manager Scott Borchetta had sold her master’s to Braun without her knowledge. Beiber went on to his Instagram and defended Braun. He wrote, Scooter has had your back since the days you graciously let me open up for you!”
He continued, “As the days have passed we haven’t crossed paths and gotten to communicate our differences. So for you to take it to social media and get people to hate on Scooter isn’t fair. What were you trying to accomplish by posting that blog? Seems to me like it was to get sympathy you also knew that in posting that your fans would go and bully scooter.”
Delevingne, one of Taylor Swift’s closest friends, commented on the post, “Gentleman? You must be bored. I wish you spent less time sticking up for men and more time trying to understand women and respecting their valid reactions. As a married man, you should be lifting women up instead of tearing them down because you are threatened.”
She continued, “I am not sure you actually understand what an apology is. This issue that [ Taylor Swift] is talking out is about far more than a picture and you know that. As you said you haven’t spoken to her in years which means you definitely don’t understand the situation. I do. Take a step back and try and learn from this. We should all be on the same team. End of story.”
While talking to Variety about the feud, Cara Delevingne revealed, “She is one of my best friends. She’s been there for me through a lot of stuff that people don’t necessarily see.”
“I think a lot of people diss her too much for now having like these real friendships,” she further added. “Taylor is one of the realist people and I will support and stick up for her whenever.”
The 26-year-old also applauded Swift regarding her work for LGBTQ rights. Saying, we “really need someone in her position to be doing it.”
Carnival Row will debut on Amazon Prime Video on August 30th, 2019
