Caitlyn Jenner recently gave an interview to Broadly, where she talked about the long history she has had with gender change surgery. She also spoke about having had breast implants when Kendall Jenner was born and having them removed afterwards.
Beyond that, she also talked about her exclusion from the family and the trans community in the interview.
Since coming out as a transgender woman in 2015, Caitlyn Jenner has started many conversations. These have centered around her politics, her family drama and her marriage with Kris Jenner, including many other subjects.
Caitlyn has now talked about starting her gender transformation before she met Kris Jenner. She had promised herself she would transform by the age of 40, so when she met Kris, she had ‘a little B-cup’.
“Kris and I got married and I kind of hid it the best that I could,” she said.
“When Kendall was born, I had liposuction and got rid of [my breasts]. Because I thought, I can’t even go swimming with my kid,” she added.
She said that Kris booked the appointment, a detail that links back to Jenner’s infamous problems with her ex-wife. According to Kris Jenner, the most she knew of her husband’s gender dysphoria was that he liked to dress up in feminine clothes occasionally. According to Caitlyn, however, Kris knew the whole time.
During those troubling days, airplanes and golf clubs were Caitlyn’s two sanctuaries. She liked to visit Sherwood Country Club often, and said, “I would take my little bras up there, in this very quiet golf course, and [see] what it was like playing with boobies.”
She also said that while alone in the air, away from the prying eyes of people and paparazzi, she felt free, explaining, “I would be up there in my little lonesome, free as can be.”
Caitlyn continued to talk about the backlash she got due to her book, The Secrets of My Life. “I got the trans community out there bashing on me, I got the Kardashians out there bashing on me. All I do is sit here in the house and try to stay out of trouble,” she said.
She also said she gets what it is that makes the trans community disgaree with her defacto representation of the community; “I get the criticism that I don’t get it. You know why? Because I’m not around it. I understand that. But I’m not going to make excuses for that. I’ve worked hard for that. It’s what America is all about. What they don’t realize is that I didn’t have the anonymity to be able to do this privately. I couldn’t.”
She added, “Along the way, did I make mistakes? Absolutely. But I never did it maliciously. I just didn’t know, you know? And I really didn’t realize how critical the community was going to be.”
Another reason Caitlyn has received so much backlash over the years is because of her staunch support of the Republican party despite their troubling mandate when it comes to the trans community, “I think it’s good that I’m on the Republican side because the Republicans know that, and I have an immediate in with them to change their minds. The Republicans need the most work when it comes to our issues, I get that. I would rather work from the inside. I’m not the type of person who is going to stand on a street corner with a sign and jump up and down. No, I’m going to go have dinner with these people,” she said.
Finally, she talked about her relationship with her family. She admitted they have given her a wide berth since the release of her book and the public comments against momager Kris Jenner. She said, “I spend a lot of time by myself here in the house. I have a lot of children, but sometimes just because of circumstances, maintaining a close relationship with your kids is very tough. They all have lives. They’ve all moved on. We’re just human beings; we’re going to be here for a very short time. We come and we go and at the end, when it’s all said and done, hopefully your family is going to be there.”
She hopes her kids continue to live their passion in life and find what it is that excites them. She elaborated, “That one thing in life when you wake up in the morning and you’re excited about the day, you can’t wait for the day to get started—your passion in life. If you wake up in the morning you are excited about the day and you have something to do, that is good. And it’s very difficult to find. I want my kids to find that one thing in their life.”
“I hope when I get up there to the pearly gates, God looks down and says, ‘You did a good damn job, you won the Games, raised wonderful children, and you know, you made a difference in the world. Yeah, come on in.’ That’s the way I want to go,” she added.
Since retreating from the public eye, Caitlyn has focused on supporting the trans community by making some big donations and continuing to stir and encourage conversation. One of the more recent controversies the star was embroiled in resulted from St. John’s Well Child & Family Center’s decision to give Caitlyn an award for the work she has done for the community. After a transgender activist named Ashlee Marie Preston launched a Change.org petition protesting the recipient of the award, Caitlyn publicly announced that she would not accept it.
In the interview, she talked about how the protest felt, saying, “It hurts. I’m a human, a person.“
