David and Victoria Beckham are extremely upset but resolute following the raid of their £6 million Cotswalds mansion by masked robbers.
The police were called to the house in Great Tew, Oxfordshire, last week when the security team saw masked men on the CCTV cameras. The group of three placed a ladder against the property where the family often spends its weekends, and climbed up to eye the house through the first floor window. They did not enter the house and nothing was stolen, and guests nearby at the Soho Farmhouse chased them away.
The family is currently in Australia to attend the Invictus Games and are resolute that they will stay and support Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Reportedly, this almost-robbery is the reason Victoria Beckham was in tears over the weekend, along with being upset at husband David’s admission that the two have to work really hard at their relationship. A couple of days before the house was raided, David said in an Australian TV interview, “When you’ve been married for the amount of time that we have, it’s always hard work. It becomes a little more complicated.”
A friend of the couple said that Victoria had not taken the news well at all, saying, “When Victoria was given the heads-up on Wednesday about David’s interview, she was absolutely devastated. She has no idea why he would say such insensitive things and publicly embarrass her like this. As you can imagine, it was as if a nuclear bomb had gone off in the Beckham household when she found out. She was in pieces and spent the next two days crying. To say it’s not been the best of weeks is an understatement.”
The fashion designer was reportedly so caught up about David’s comments that she rushed off to a German stress management clinic, where she spent a few peaceful days, waiting to checking out before posting a picture from a therapeutic walk. She captioned it, “Amazing experience at @villastephaniebadenbaden spa in Baden-Baden x #Wellness.”
Another source told Daily Mail that David is resentful about having to install more security after the potential robbery, but his “number one priority is to protect his wife, children and wider family.” The couple are now installing guard dogs, motion sensor alarms and regular patrols to keep their property safe from future attacks.
David and Victoria Beckham have not personally addressed the raid or David’s comments.
