Avicii didn’t plan his suicide according to his father, Klas Bergling.
The Wake Me Up hit maker’s father finally opened up about the death of his son. Klas Bergling revealed that Avicii may not have planned to take his life.
In an interview with CNN, he said, “Our theory is not that he planned this suicide, more that it was like a traffic accident. He was happy before and he was happy for his music. If you are very happy or extremely happy, it’s not so far to be unhappy. Small things can make you sad or move your balance and I think this is what happened.”
In 2017 the Dj also posted on his website talking about how much he loved music. He wrote, “We all reach a point in our lives and our careers where we understand what matters most to us. For me it’s creating music. That’s what I live for, what I feel I was born to do.”
Bergling told CNN that his son would always discuss his mental health with him. He said, “When he was in a bad situation he always used to call me. We talked a lot about his thoughts, about meditation, love. We had long talks, often one hour or so, over the ocean.”
Klas described his son as an introvert and said, “Of course there were many people that wanted him out at parties. That’s part of the hard life as a DJ or artist. You have to do a lot of things that you don’t want to do and in the end it takes a part of you really.”
Upon his death on April 20th, 2018 CNN released a statement. It read, “It is with profound sorrow that we pronounce the loss of Tim Bergling. He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon, local time, April 20th. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given.”
Avicii was working on another album which was later released by his family. They named the album, Posthumous Album, Tim. Aloe Blacc released SOS right afterward.
The young artist told Rolling Stones last year, “It’s very easy to become too attached to partying. You become lonely and get anxieties. It becomes toxic.”
Klas Bergling then opened an organization after the demise of his beloved son. He named the organization, Tim Bergling Foundation, which supports mental health issues.
He said, “The idea came very quickly after Tim’s death that we should do something. There are so many people working in this field and doing a nice job. But it has to be something coming higher up from the politicians, making this force, going in one direction, not as it is today, a lot of things here and there.”
Many celebrities also heard the news and were heartbroken. They sent prayers and support to the DJ’s family.
