Ariana Grande’s next single ‘Imagine’ is coming out in just TWO days, as part of the next step in her upcoming album, and fans cannot contain their excitement.

Grande announced her new song on yesterday, saying it would be dropping on Thursday night. The song will be the second single from Grande’s fifth album, Thank U, Next. 

Grande first teased the name of the song in the music video for her song Breathin, and then again for the video of Thank U, Next. At the time, a fan asked her on Instagram what the song would be and she said, “a simple, beautiful love that is now (and forever) unattainable.”

Grande then took to Twitter to share more details about when the song was going to be released, writing, “‘imagine’ thursday night”. She also posted a countdown on her Instagram story, which revealed the song will drop exactly at midnight on Thursday, December 13, 9PM PST.

The Dangerous Woman singer took to her Instagram stories to also show a drafted tweet that provided more insight into the song. She wrote, “A lot of this album mourns failed yet important, beautiful relationships in my life (as well as celebrates growth / exploring new independence). But for those of you asking about imagine: i would say if ‘thank u, next’ = acceptance… ‘imagine’ = denial. hope that makes sense.”

Grande also revealed during an interview with Billboard‘s Women In Music issue that even the song Thank U, Next is uplifting, the album in itself is not. She wrote, “A lot of it sounds really upbeat, but it’s actually a super sad chapter.”

The singer also wrote on Twitter, “what an interesting, challenging, painful and yet beautiful and exciting chapter of life ….. when it rains it pours but i’m embracing all of it. i’m excited for whatever else the universe has in store for me. she’s growing n she’s grateful.”
