Ariana Grande opens up about her grief, Mac Miller and Pete Davidson. The singer was on the cover of Vogue.
The 26-year-old singer opened up to Vogue about the past eventful years of her life. There was a bomb blast at her concert in Manchester. Grande lost her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller to an overdose. She also broke up with her fiance Pete Davidson.
While talking about the Manchester bombing, she tearily said, “It’s not my trauma. It’s those families’. It’s their losses, and so it’s hard to just let it all out without thinking about them reading this and reopening the memory for them. I’m proud that we were able to raise a lot of money with the intention of giving people a feeling of love or unity, but at the end of the day, it didn’t bring anyone back.”
Continuing further she revealed, “Everyone was like, Wow, look at this amazing thing, and I was like, What the fuck are you guys talking about? We did the best we could, but on a totally real level we did nothing. I’m sorry. I have a lot to say that could probably help people that I do want to share, but I have a lot that I still need to process myself and will probably never be ready to talk about.”
Talking about her own feelings, Grande said, “For a long time I didn’t want to talk to anyone about anything, because I didn’t want to think about anything.” The pop singer admits to burying herself in her music and trying to focus only on her albums. She reveals that she did not want to focus on “the real stuff” because she was extremely hurt.
The Dangerous Woman singer started crying while talking about Coachella. The event was where she first saw Mac Miller perform calling it “an incredible experience.” She admits that she never thought she would attend Coachella but went twice in two years. Adding, “I associate…heavily…it was just kind of a mindf***, processing how much has happened in such a brief period.”
The singer revealed that she took solace in alcohol after Miller’s death and does not “remember those months of her life because she was (a) so drunk and (b) so sad”.
Further saying, “I’ve always had someone to say goodnight to. So Thank U, Next was this moment of self-realization. It was this scary moment of ‘Wow, you have to face all this stuff now. No more distractions. You have to heal all this shit.’”
Grande got engaged to Pete Davidson in June 2018. During the interview, she called Pete “an amazing distraction.”
She said, “It was frivolous and fun and insane and highly unrealistic, and I loved him, and I didn’t know him. I’m like an infant when it comes to real life and this old soul, been-around-the-block-a-million-times artist. I still don’t trust myself with the life stuff.”
Ariana posed on the cover of Vogue along with a dog. She is wearing a black dress from Dior. She posted a photo on Instagram and thanked the magazine for the opportunity. Furthermore, she also posed with her mother and Grandmother for the magazine.
The Vogue issue will be available on July 23.
