2017 has been a year of great loss. The world lost many talented, ambitious and iconic artists. As the year comes to an end, let’s look back and honor these 11 celebrities that left the world giving us great memories to cherish forever.
- Chester Bennington
Chester Bennington was an American singer and songwriter more popularly known as the lead singer of Linkin Park. Chester has created incredible music with songs like, ‘In the End’ and ‘Numb’ which are favorites for people around the world even today.
He committed suicide by hanging himself in his home in Palos Verdes Estates, California. His body was discovered by his housekeeper on 20th July 2017.
2. August Ames
August Ames was a very successful Canadian-American adult actress. Ames was only 23 years old when she tragically passed away. She enlisted her name as the 9th most famous pornstar on Pornhub, and appeared in 290 adult movies in her short lifetime. She had also won two AVN Awards.
August committed suicide as result of abuse on Twitter. The adult film star refused to work with a gay porn actor and was labeled by the public as homophobic. Tired of explaining her situation to the world, she gave up and took her own life.
3. Chris Cornell
Chris Cornell was an extremely talented American musician, singer, and songwriter. He was best known for his roles as the lead vocalist of Soundgarden and Audioslave.
According to statistics, Cornell has sold more than 30 million records altogether.
The 52-year-old singer suffered from depression and substance abuse. He is said to have committed suicide. The veteren artist’s dead body was found in his hotel room in Detroit on May 18th, 2017.
4. Heather North
Heather Lindsay North, an American actress, popularly known as the beautiful voice of Daphne Blake in Hanna-Barbera’s ‘Scooby-Doo’ series.
The voice artist died on November 30th, in her home in Studio City, California. She was 71 years old.
Reportedly, Lindsay had a long-term disease. However, there is little information regarding the illness.
5. Jerry Lewis
Jerry Lewis the ‘King of Comedy’ was a beloved comedian, director, and producer. Lewis received many awards during his lifetime for his great performances.
The American multi-talented celebrity died in his home in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 20th, 2017. He was 91 years old. Jerry was suffering from cardiac disease and peripheral artery disease.
On his death, Robert DeNiro paid him a tribute and said, “Jerry was a pioneer in comedy and film. And he was a friend. I was fortunate to have seen him a few times over the past couple of years. You’ll be missed.”
6. David Cassidy
David Cassidy was a prolific American actor, singer, and songwriter. Cassidy was popularly known for his role as Keith Patridge in an American musical sitcom ‘The Patridge Family’. This hit character led Cassidy to become a pop sensation in the 1970s.
The legend died on November 21, 2017 due to liver failure at the age of 67.
His daughter, Katie Cassidy revealed his last words before his death which were, “so much wasted time.”
7. Lil Peep
Gustav Ahr, a.k.a Lil Peep, introduced himself as an American singer and rapper. He gained popularity online for his songs Benz Truck and The Way I See Things.
The 21-year-old talent died of drug overdose on Wednesday evening.
Ironically, a few hours before his death, he shared an image on-stage with a caption:
“When I die you’ll love me.”
8. Malcolm Young
Malcolm Mitchell Young was one of the founders and rhythm guitarists of the famous rock band AC/DC. The exalted band was formed in 1973 by Malcolm and his younger brother Angus. The rockstar was only 20 years old at this time.
Malcolm was 64 years old when he died on November 18th, 2017. He had been battling dementia for three years.
9. Kim Jong-Hyun
Kim Jong-Hyun, widely known as Jonghyun, was a South Korean musical artist. He was the frontman of a notable boy band, Shinee.
Shinee, formed in 2008, has pulled off some outstanding music. The band has produced eleven studio albums, four live albums, and nine video albums altogether.
He committed suicide and was only 27 years old. As per the news reports, Kim died due to carbon monoxide poisoning. He was found unconscious in his apartment.
The star’s last words to his sister were, “It’s been too hard. Please send me off. Tell everyone I’ve had a hard time. This is my last goodbye.”
10. Heather Menzies-Urich
Heather Menzies-Urich was a Canadian-American actress, specifically known for her spectacular role as Louisa Von Trapp in ‘The Sound of Music.‘ The movie turned out to be a huge success, bagging six Oscars altogether.
She was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, which is an acute form of brain cancer. The symptoms range from headaches and nausea to unconsciousness and extreme seizures. Heather died at the age of 68 on Christmas Eve.
11. Hugh Hefner
Hugh Hefner was a proud founder and editor-in-chief of Playboy. Playboy is an entertainment magazine for men. The magazine was founded in Chicago in 1953. It is famous for its bold content.
The business mogul died on 27 September 2017 in his home in Holmby Hills, Los Angeles, California. The causes of death are said to be cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, and E. coli infection.
