Debut in the Vogue Magazine’s cover and honor to win the ‘Woman of the Year’ award made Selena Gomez absolutely magnificent.

It was a jam-packed year for the talented young lady. She entertained millions of fans by releasing hit songs like ‘Fetish’ and ‘Wolves’.

January: Selena caught at a rehab center

The former disney star was seen at The Meadows Rehab Centre in Arizona. There’s a speculation that she chose the recovery program to focus on her emotional well-being.

Moreover, her parents were really concerned about her. They said, “Selena had worked in Hollywood non-stop for six years” and was “exhausted.”

The 22-year-old later added, “But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be.”

Apart from her rehab, Selena was also spotted outside Giorgio Baldi restaurant in LA, wrapping her hands around the ‘Starboy’, The Weeknd.

February: Paired up with Kygo for her song ‘It ain’t me’

‘It ain’t me’ was written by Kygo, Gomez, Andrew Watt, Brian Lee and Ali Tamposi altogether. The lyrics mostly narrated a past relationship ruined by alcoholism and partying.

‘It ain’t me’ was seemingly linked to her breakup with her ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber.

March: Graced ‘US Vogue’ cover and Netflix series ’13 reasons why’

There isn’t really anything that Selena can’t pull off! She has made an eminent place for herself whether it be acting, singing or modeling.

While talking about herself, she said, “For a change, it feels like I don’t have to be holding my breath and waiting for somebody to judge a piece of work that I’m doing.”

The singer also did a remarkable job in the netflix series, ’13 reasons why’ as the executive producer. She said that she “got a little controlling” by it.

On the release of the series, she stated on her instagram:

“After 7 years of holding onto this book, I couldn’t of picked a better time for this message to exist. Jay Asher wrote a beautifully tragic, compelling story and we were lucky to have brought it to life. Thank you to every single soul that put their heart into this passion project.”

Gomez sang ‘Only you’ for the series as well. Well, she has got multiple talents!

April: Hosted the ‘WE Day’ event; David Henrie’s Wedding

‘WE Day’ is an event that invites renowned personalities from all around the world to inspire millions of young people and families with their powerful stories. Selena Gomez hosted the event and helped people with service-learning’ and volunteer opportunities.

While hosting the event, she said, “They have inspired and provided a platform to help kids and families be THE movement. They prove that you can do anything you set your mind to. No matter what age.”

Also, David Henrie, Selena’s co-actor from the sitcom ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ tied the knot in April.

Selena, who played the role of Henrie’s younger sister in the series, was the first one to know about it. As described by Henrie, “She was like, ‘I’m in. Whenever it is, I’ll be there.”

May: ‘Bad Liar’ hit the screens

‘Bad Liar’ was her most acclaimed music track ever. The TV director, Jesse Peretz, helped Gomez step onto several roles for the video.

June: Fashion Partnership: Selena and COACH

Gomez was named the new face of COACH. She rocked the company’s diverse clothline and starred in its visuals as well.

July: ‘Fetish’ song arrives

The American singer dropped her second soundtrack of the year in July. Selena collaborated with Gucci Mane to uplift its brilliance.

The song ‘Fetish’ was captivating, thus the fans loved it.

September: Selena Gomez in TIME’s list of ‘Women who’re Changing the World’; ‘Kidney Transplant’

TIME featured Selena as one of the first 46 women to change the world, regardless of thier ages, ethnicities and cultures. She was recognized in the list for being the first person to reach 100 million followers on Instagram.

The special project was called ‘TIME Firsts’.

Selena also revealed about her kidney transplant that month:

“So I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health.” She thanked the many family members and friends who had helped her through the tough time, including actress Francia Raisa, who had donated her kidney, which Gomez called “the ultimate gift and sacrifice.”

October: Breakup with The Weeknd; Jelena are back; ‘Billboard’s Woman Of the Year’ award

The actress finally ended her romance with The Weeknd after ten months, in October!

Later that month, Justin Bieber and Selena were seen having breakfast together. She was also caught at a church event with him.

Above all, the ‘Fetish’ singer was exalted with the ‘Billboard’s Woman of the Year’ award. After a year filled with numerous hits, there was no doubt that she deserved it.

John Amato, the president of ‘The Hollywood Reporter-Billboard Media Group’ said, “Not only is Selena soaring on the charts, but she continuously inspires young women everywhere to be authentic, give back and to not be afraid to use their voice.”

November: Wolves arrives; Lupus Research Alliance Gala

Selena Gomez and Marshmello came up with the song, ‘Wolves’. She excitedly said on the Twitter, “Selenators, meet the mellogang.”

She also hailed the track as one of her favourites!

Gomez was also the honorary co-chair at the ‘Lupus Research Gala’ held in November.

She shared some further information about her kidney transplant:

“After undergoing so many tests to monitor my kidneys” Gomez explained, “My doctors … said that I would be needing a kidney transplant. Maybe I wasn’t necessarily really good at knowing what that meant, so it actually got to a point where it was life or death.”

The pop artist added, “Thankfully, one of my best friends gave me her kidney, and it was the ultimate gift of life. I am supporting the Lupus Research Alliance because they are getting results, and that’s what gives people hope.”

However, she admitted that not everyone is as lucky as she was to find a donor for an organ transplant.

December: Selena Gomez walked out on Justin Bieber

The couple was caught at the ‘Sugar Factory’ in Bellevue, sharing a large drink with two straws.

While having the time of their life, Justin started showing off his dance moves. Unfortunately, Selena walked out of the place as it was “drawing too much attention to them.”
