The #MeToo movement has taken the Hollywood industry by storm. Fresh stories emerge every day of women finally speaking up against the men who subjected them to sexual harassment.
Yet another story has come to light where a journalist has accused Michael Douglas of sexual harassment!
Michael Douglas is a well-known American actor and producer. He is also a proud receiver of two Academy Awards. However, Michael is recently gaining attention for all the wrong reasons!
Susan Braudy is a journalist who has come out with her story of being sexually harassed by Douglas. She narrated the horrible experience to The Hollywood Reporter.
Susan formerly worked with Michael Douglas back in the late 80’s. She was 40 years old at the time and managed his production company office, Stonebridge Productions, in New York.
Susan’s job required her to ‘read scripts, hire and supervise screenwriters, and perhaps most important, to babysit Michael in his apartment’.
She further said that Douglas openly discussed his affair with actress, Kathleen Turner, as well as another mistress.
Michael also directed vulgar remarks towards her about her sex life. He also made a lot of comments about Susan’s body. “I began wearing long, loose layers of black,” she said.
In light of this, he asked one of the producers, “Why does Susan dress like a pregnant nun?”
However, one event just crossed all lines, which made Susan cry and run away. Michael masturbated right in front of her!
It happened one evening when Susan was at Micheal’s apartment for some work.
While speaking of the incident she said, “I peered at him and saw he’d inserted both hands into his unzipped pants. I realized to my horror that he was rubbing his private parts. Within seconds his voice cracked and it appeared to me he’d had an orgasm.”
She further added, “I said nothing. I was surprised I wasn’t falling to pieces even though I was humiliated. I realized he thought he could do anything he wanted because he was so much more powerful than I was.”
“Michael ran barefoot after me to the elevator, zipping his fly and bucking his belt. ‘Hey, thank you, you’re good. You helped me, thank you, thank you.”
It’s interesting to note that Michael Douglas had already provided a pre-emptive denial to any allegations before the story came out publicly. According to The Guardian, Michael’s lawyer was asked about this issue and he said it was ‘a complete lie’ even before the story was revealed!
Michael said, “Coarse language or overheard private conversations with my friends that may have troubled her are a far cry from harassment. Suggesting so does a true disservice to those who have actually endured sexual harassment and intimidation.”
However, The Hollywood Reporter did a background check on the story to make sure it’s authentic. Susan had notes and files, which talked about the inappropriate advances made by the actor.
Susan had also had a letter written in 1993 by the California Women’s Law Center depicting Susan’s inquiry into legal remedies for sexual harassment in the workplace.
The journalist had also repeatedly confided in her friend and Fire and Fury author, Michael Wolff, about the incidents.
He told THR, “I was told in the immediate aftermath-that day or the next. We have discussed the incident many, many times since, as well as Douglas’ relentless, goading, mocking and belittling sexual behavior.”
Let’s see what Michael Douglas has to say about the story coming out publicly!
