The celebrity couple, Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux, have announced their separation after two and a half years of marriage and seven years as a couple.
Jennifer Aniston, 49, and Justin Theroux, 46, met on the set of their comedy film, Wanderlust, directed by David Wain in 2012.
In August 2015, they wed each other in a secret ceremony in Los Angeles at the Bel Air mansion.
According to US Weekly, the couple signed a ‘prenup’ before their marriage. A source disclosed, “Jennifer has an ironclad prenup with Justin. It would be very hard for Justin to contest it. The prenup talks before the marriage were long and intense.”
The source further stated, “Jen’s assets and Friends fortune are protected.”
Aniston, who is well-known for playing her prominent role as ‘Rachel Green’ on FRIENDS, has an estimated net worth of 200 million dollars.
Both celebrities have stated that their decision of going apart has been mutual and was “lovingly made” at the end of 2017.
The former couple released a joint statement through Aniston’s representative, Stephen Huvane, to USA Today, where they gave no specific reason for their split but did mention that they intend to continue their “cherished friendship” in the future.
Their statement briefly expressed, “We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship.”
It further stated, “Normally we would do this privately, but given that the gossip industry cannot resist an opportunity to speculate and invent, we wanted to convey the truth directly.”
“Above all, we are determined to maintain the deep respect and love that we have for one another.”
Architectural Digest previously interviewed Aniston at the couple’s home in Bel Air, where she said, “I look around at my husband and my dogs and our home, and there’s nowhere else I want to be.”
Although the ex-couple surprisingly spent time apart during the last few months, they welcomed 2018 together on New Year’s in Mexico at Cabo Sans Lucas.
Aniston celebrated her birthday on 11th of February without Theroux, accompanied by her longtime friend and co-star of Friends, Courteney Cox, and with other friends, Andrea Bendewald and Kristin Hahn.
A source told PEOPLE that despite having busy work schedules in the past, Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux always worked their marriage through it.“
When he is in NYC, Jen will catch up with friends and enjoys her own life. When Justin is in L.A., it’s very special for them. They socialize together with friends. They often go out to dinner or have people over.”
Aniston was previously married to Brad Pitt in 2000, but the celebrated couple called it quits in 2005.
While for Theroux, this was his only marriage. He dated Heidi Bivens, the famous hair stylist, for fourteen years until their breakup in 2011.
