Chris Evans has recently hinted that he might be one of the few inevitable deaths that happen in Avenger: Infinity Wars. The film is bound to change the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) forever.
It has been understood that the upcoming Marvel movie, Infinity War, will mean the end of several actors’ portrayal as superheroes, when their contract will come to an end.
Chris Evans was initially signed on for a 6-series movie contract with Marvel Studios, which was extended to 7 when Infinity Wars was split into two.
The first film releases in April 2018 and the second will follow in May 2019.
Despite fans hoping the actor would stay on longer, he recently confirmed that the end of these movies was the end of his stint with MCU.
In an interview with The New York Times, Evans said, “You want to get off the train before they push you off.”
As Evans signs off from his role as Steve Rogers, fans are wondering what this will mean for Captain America himself.
In the comic books, Thanos famously kills everyone, so it is plausible to assume Steve Rogers’ death will be one of many which fans will have to sit through during the two films.
In the comics, Rogers’ death does not mean the end of Captain America, as other characters take up the responsibility, but fans are certain the end of Chris Evans’ stint with MCU means the end of Captain America.
The directors of Infinity Wars, the Russo brothers, have already warned fans that the upcoming movies will involve heartbreak.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, they said, “The notion of an ending, the notion of a finale, became very intriguing to us, in large part because you don’t see it that often in this particular genre.”
He continued, “People always will jump to ‘death’. That’s not necessarily what we’re talking about. I talk a lot, because I’m a big-a** nerd, about Star Trek: The Next Generation, All Good Things. That to me is one of the best series finales ever. That wasn’t about death. Picard went and played poker with the crew, something he should have done a long time ago, right?”
Captain America fans also expressed their disappointment at the upcoming plot twist on social media.
