Cardi B makes history as she becomes the first female rapper to top the Billboard Top 100 chart with her song, Bodak Yellow which released back in June.
On June 16, Cardi released her debut major label single “Bodak Yellow”, which has already appeared on a number of the best songs of 2017 lists.
Though, it only debuted at 85 on the Hot 100, it became a strong contender for song of the summer, propelled by performances at OVO Fest and the MTV VMAs pre-show (it should have been during the main show, IMHO).
Today, she has become the first female rapper to top Billboard Hot 100 by topping Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” all alone. This has happened for the first time in nearly two decades. Previously, Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing)” in 1998 badged the title.
By pulling down Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do”, Cardi B has raised the bars.
In August, two months after the release of the song, Cardi B gave an interview to the New York Times. She was pretty confident that Bodak Yellow would become the no.1 song.
Cardi B is basically a rapper, song writer, social media personality and also an actress. She was born in the Bronx on 11th October 1999. The rapper first started her career as an exotic dancer and received a lot of public attention.
In this moment of victory, many artists have approached her to congratulate on her success. After she’s done celebrating, she will drop her very first album in October 2017.
After Bodak Yellow, her first album is finally set to drop in the upcoming October.
