'Star Trek' Star René Auberjonois Passes Away at 79
René Auberjonois is survived by his wife Judith whom he married in 1963. The couple has two children together, Tessa and Remy.

René Auberjonois passed away on Sunday; the news was confirmed from his Twitter account.

The actor’s son Rèmy-Luc Auberjonois told The Associated Press that Auberjonois passed away after a long battle with lung cancer.

He also gave a statement to E! News saying, “I can confirm that he died peacefully at home in LA following a battle with metastatic lung cancer. He was an incredibly accomplished and admired actor, whose roles in iconic theatrical productions, TV series, films, video games and animated series brought laughter and pathos to many many people.”

René Auberjonois was best known for his work in the television shows Benson and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. Also, for his role in the 1970 film M*A*S*H playing Father Mulcahy and in Boston legal as well. His other works include Charlie’s Angels, Starsky and Hutch, and Frasier.

Furthermore, he also voiced the character of angry Chef Louis in Disney’s The Little Mermaid and sang the hit song Les Poissons. Auberjonois also voiced Mia Thermopolis’ father Prince Phillippe Renaldi in The Princess Diaries.

Actor Donal Logue expressed his condolences on Twitter. He wrote, “He was kind, brilliant, hilarious; loved his family and his profession. RIP @reneauberjonois and Heath (always!).”

While Nolan North said, “Very sad to hear of the passing of @reneauberjonois. I was privileged to get to know him on Uncharted 2 and am so grateful for the time we spent and the conversations we had. He will be missed.”

Director Sam Hoffman tweeted, “I had the great fortune to direct @ReneAuberjonois on @MadamSecretary. Here he is in a scene with @SebArcelus. Rene made every scene he was in a little more interesting. Rest in peace.”
