Prince Philip has left the hospital after his illness just in time for Queen Elizabeth’s Christmas celebrations.
The Palace released a statement, saying, “The Duke of Edinburgh has today left hospital after being discharged by his Doctor and is now back at Sandringham. His Royal Highness would like to thank everyone who sent their good wishes.” The Duke traveled to Norfolk for “observation and treatment in relation to a pre-exiting condition. The admission is a precautionary measure, on the advice of His Royal Highness’ Doctor.”
The Prince was released on Tuesday, after first being admitted on Friday. The 98 year old’s hospital admission was confirmed by the Palace, with a statement to NBC.
Prince Philip walked into the hospital himself. The Queen remained at Sandringham, where she goes for Christmas and attends Church on the 25th of December. In May 2017, the Prince retired from public duties. Since then, he has been spotted at Balmoral Castle in August and also at Princess Eugenie’s wedding.
In June, Prince Philip celebrated his 98th birthday. Earlier, he was involved in a car accident after which he voluntarily gave up his driver’s license.
The Queen and Prince Philip recently celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary.
