Prince Harry and Meghan Markle chose not to spend the holiday season in England, and are in Canada instead.
Their press secretary released a statement about their time off, saying, “Their Royal Highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are spending private family time in Canada.” The spokesperson added that the couple and their son Archie are “enjoying the warmth of the Canadian people and the beauty of the landscape with their young son.”
The Duchess of Sussex is familiar with Canada, since the show Suits was filmed in Toronto. She acted on the show for over 6 seasons before she got married to Prince Harry.
The couple originally announced that they would be spending the holiday season in America with Markle’s mother. A spokesperson had previously announced, “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are looking forward to extended family time towards the end of this month. Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, Their Royal Highnesses will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the Duchess’ mother Doria Ragland.”
That would have been the first time that Prince Archie would have visited his mother’s home country. Prince Harry had visited before while getting to know Markle and her family and also during his holiday duties.
The couple have not yet shared photos from their family holiday in Canada.
