Nicki Minaj has officially announced her marriage to registered s*x offender, Kenneth Petty, after only a year of dating.
The rapper posted a video on her Instagram on Monday. The video shows matching mugs with “Mr. and Mrs.” written on them, along with black and white caps with “Bride” and “Groom” written on the top. She added the caption, “Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty 10•21•19” and bride and groom emojis.
The couple obtained a marriage license back in June. Minaj confirmed the news on her Apple Beats 1 show titled Queen Radio. The 36-year-old said, “We did get our marriage license. I think I have what I was striving for, just happiness. It was so hard to get to a happy place. Now that I’m there, I don’t want to compromise that for anyone or anything.”
Minaj constantly refers to Petty as her husband even before the official announcement. During the episode, she also said, “Every night when I get out of the shower, my husband takes this really good lotion that we just bought, and he massages my feet, and rubs them, and he rubs each toe individually, and the heel, and the ball of my foot, and he does it all. It’s just so sexy.”
The couple went public with their relationship back in December 2018. However, fans were quick to criticize Minaj for dating a s*x offender. According to TMZ, Petty was accused of assaulting a 16-year-old girl in 1995. He served over a year and a half in prison.
Furthermore, friends were quick to congratulate the happy couple after their announcement. Model Winnie Harlow commented, “So happy for you Mrs.Bride you deserve all the happiness in the world.”
Christina Aguilera also expressed her happiness saying, “Congrats queen!”
Congratulations to the happy couple!
