Michael B Jordan is in talks to play the Man of Steel in the upcoming Superman movies.
According to Variety, after the immense success of Joker, Warner Bros reportedly met with Michael B Jordan about playing the role of Superman. However, no director or script has been selected for any such film.
The outlet reported, “There was a meeting with Michael B. Jordan earlier this year with the “Creed” star pitching Warners on a vision for the character. However, Jordan isn’t ready to commit to taking on the project since filming doesn’t seem likely to happen for several years and he has a full dance card of projects.”
DC had been facing a downfall after releasing Justice League and Suicide Squad since both films did not do well at the box office. However, chief analyst at BoxOffice.com, Shawn Robbins reported, “They’re on the upswing. They had a rocky period, but they’re starting to find their footing.”
Jordan, who played Killmonger in the Marvel film Black Panther, has been rumored to play the Man of Steel for the past months. Previously, the role of Superman was played by Henry Cavill.
In a recent interview with Men’s Health, Cavill revealed that Superman’s “cape is in the closet. It’s still mine.” Adding, “I’m not just going to sit quietly in the dark as all this stuff is going on. I’ve not given up the role. There’s a lot I have to give for Superman yet. A lot of storytelling to do. A lot of real, true depths to the honesty of the character I want to get into. I want to reflect the comic books. That’s important to me. There’s a lot of justice to be done for Superman. The status is: You’ll see.”
Warner Bros is set to release many superhero movies in the upcoming years including Margot Robbie’s Birds of Prey, Batman starring Robert Pattinson, and Zoe Kravitz, Wonder Woman 1984. Also, The Flash, Green Lantern Corps, and an Aquaman sequel are also in the works.
