Caroline Flack faces assault charges just weeks before the launch of Love Island’s winter series on 8 January 2020.
The Love Island host was arrested on Thursday from her home in Islington, London after an alleged fight with her boyfriend. The 40-year-old lived together with her 27-year-old boyfriend Lewis Burton, a tennis player.
A police spokesperson told Metro, “Caroline Flack of Islington was charged on Friday, 13 December with assault by beating. She will appear on bail at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 23 December.”
Further adding, “This follows an incident at approximately 05:25hrs on Thursday, 12 December after reports of a man assaulted. He was not seriously injured.”
Eyewitnesses claim that Burton was treated for his injuries at the scene and was heard shouting, “Bruv! I was normal until I met her.”
Caroline Flack’s rep also confirmed the news to the media outlet, “We confirm that Police attended Caroline’s home following a private domestic incident. She is co-operating with the appropriate people to resolve matters. We will not be making any further comment for legal reasons.”
The television present is set to appear at the Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court two days before Christmas, on Monday 23 December.
The arrest comes just days before Flack was supposed to fly to South Africa for hosting the upcoming Love Island winter series 2020 instead of their usual villa in Spain.
It is unclear whether Flack’s arrest will affect her role as the host of Love Island.
