Despite voluntarily dropping out of the running last year, Kevin Hart is open to hosting the 2020 Oscars.
Hart was at the Jumanji: The Next Level premiere with Dwayne Johnson by his side. The comedian, who recently suffered a life-threatening car crash and had to undergo extensive spine surgery, spoke about the 2020 Oscars. He said, “Hey look, I have nothing but love for the Academy,” he said. “I always will. I think that, you know, any conversation is always a good conversation. So, TBD. To be determined.”
The Rock said, “Get the tequila ready.” Clearly, he is ready for his friend to host the Oscars.
Last year, Hart stepped down from his hosting gig after his homophobic tweets from the past sprung up. He apologized but the criticism did not go away. Hart stepped down with a public statement via the Ellen DeGeneres show, saying he did not want to take attention away from anyone.
He also wrote in a tweet, “I have made the choice to step down from hosting this year’s Oscar’s….this is because I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists. I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past.”
Hart is about to star in a Netflix series titled Don’t F**k This Up. The documentary will include everything from his Oscars controversy to his car crash.
