Katy Perry and Taylor Swift’s feud began in 2012. The dispute originated over Perry stealing some backup dancers from Swift just before her live show.
Perry appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday. The Dark Horse singer opened up about making amends with the Lover singer.
Katy revealed, “We have such big groups of people that like to follow us and they started turning against each other a little bit too. And it was really unfortunate, but we made amends.”
Also adding, “I’m all about redemption and forgiveness and for setting an example for those younger people that it could be cool to ask for forgiveness and to confront someone you may have an issue with or problem with and to talk it out.”
The Teenage Dream hitmaker also stated that she and Taylor had a lot in common. Adding: “Then we started seeing each other out and about and I just would walk up to her and say, ‘Hey, how are you?’ It’s like, we have so much in common.”
“There’s probably only 10 people in the world that have the same things in common,” she continued. “I was like, ‘We should really be friends over that and share our strengths and our weaknesses and our challenges. We can help each other get through a lot.’ Because it’s not as easy as it seems sometimes.”
Ellen DeGeneres, the host, also said, “Y’all do have a lot in common and you also both have very young fans and, like you said, it’s really important to set an example to say it’s ridiculous to hold on to things like that.”
Katy responded, “Yeah, you need to bury that.”
However, the duo recently made up in June. Katy announced that she and Swift have worked things out with an Instagram post. She wrote “feels good @taylorswift” in the caption while setting her location at ‘Let’s be friends’.
Furthermore, the 34-year-old posted a photo of cookies baked by Taylor Swift. The cookies had two peace symbols and ‘Peace at last’ written in red icing.
29-year-old Taylor Swift also previously received an apology note and a literal olive branch from Perry before her Reputation Tour.
