Joaquin Phoenix made a heartfelt speech after winning the best actor award. He thanked his director Todd Phillips for his patience. He said, “Todd, you were such an amazing friend and collaborator and you convinced me to do this movie and you encouraged me to give everything and to be sincere. I am such a pain in the a** and I can’t believe you put up with me.”

The actor also begged celebrities to focus on the environment. He said, “Contrary to popular belief, I don’t want to rock the boat. But the boat has been rocked. It’s great to vote, but sometimes we have to take that responsibility on ourselves…. We don’t have to take private jets to Palm Springs and back.
